In 2006 and 2007 I was a member at Dickinson Wright PLLC, where I helped build and co-chair the firm's IT & Security Law practice group, helping clients prevent, plan for, and effectively manage IT security problems and related privacy protection issues (e.g., from security breaches), and implementing effective internal controls and procedures.
In 2004 I launched KnowConnect PLLC to provide "Knowledge Management" assistance to corporate and government legal departments, building on KM experiences we'd had at Schlumberger (while I was managing its professional development and training functions) and at British Petroleum.
In 1995 I was one of the founders of the Internet Law & Policy Forum, and in 1997 I began participating in the American Bar Association -- I'm past Chair of the ABA's Cyberspace Law Committee, and a former member of the Council of the Business Law Section. I now chair the ABA’s Standing Committee on Technology and Information Systems, and am an alumni of the ABA's Standing Committee on Law & National Security. More ABA details are here. Since 1997 I’ve published MIRLN (Miscellaneous IT Related Legal News) every three weeks.
In 2004 I left Schlumberger, where I had been Deputy General Counsel since 1998 (I started with Schlumberger in 1984). My Schlumberger career is described here. My general biographical information is here.
This website is operated by Vince Polley -- I'm a lawyer in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, and I concentrate on IT/E-commerce law and law-related operations & policy in areas of e-evidence, information security/privacy planning, and knowledge management processes.
My professional website is www.KnowConnect.com.
